Too much knowledge?
Personally, I feel like Frankenstein took his quest way too far. He studied natural philosophy, which I don't know what all it entails, but I would presume that there is some element to it that suggests the world is the way it is because of nature, and so I'm surprised that he tried to create a person. Instead of Frankenstein being satisfied with how the earth is naturally he had to take it to the next level and attempt something, that I think only God can control. Though Frankenstein is brilliant, I don't think he should have tried to create a person because though it sounds cool, that power can easily be abused because it's too much for a mere man. Frankenstein should have been happy with his research that he was doing before, and I think his trying to revive smaller insects/animals was fine, but insects are a lot different than a human. Even if it were human parts that he could revive so that it could benefit someone, then it would have been fine, but this creature was useless and has only caused destruction. I don't think it's impossible to learn too much because knowledge is power and is a catalyst to the advancement of our society and race. But, the way that someone might use that knowledge is what is scary because knowing too much can always be harmful as much as it could possibly be beneficial. I don't have all the answers so I don't know how we should safe-guard the advancement of knowledge because I feel like that can be tricky and too many restrictions could be made, so I don't really know how to answer this last part of the question.

Letters 1-4
Robert Walton seems very ambitious and knows that he wants to sail the seas. I'm not totally sure what he expects to find out there, but he is very determined to find whatever he is looking for. The stranger seems like he was at one time ambitious, but lost in some way that ambitiousness because of failure. Both characters are curious about the world and ask a lot of questions, they are also both gentle creatures. Robert is very caring for the stranger, and the stranger has a gentleness about him that draws Robert to him. They both have like minds in the way they think. Though Robert already has his own goals that he wants to achieve, he is willing to take into consideration the history of the stranger. He is willing to here the warning from the stranger in order to prevent what might be his own wring doings/inquiries. He and the stranger are alike in this aspect because they are both open people, just as Robert is willing to listen to the stranger, the stranger was also willing to listen to Robert's tale of his own pursuits and what wouldn't stop him to get there. But they are both different as well because Robert will do anything in order to obtain his goal, he says that human life is a small price to pay in order to get the knowledge that he wants. At the mention of this dark statement, the stranger began to cry because he was once like this too, but he changed his ways because of some unknown events.
