Macbeth Act 1 (scenes 4-7)

In scene 4 Malcolm says, " Nothing in his life became him like leaving it. He died as one that had been studied in his death". (13) Malcolm is saying that Mcdonwall's life didn't mean anything and dying was the only thing that was important in his life. (ex. Injury/disease) The king says, "I have begun to plant thee, and will labor to make thee full of growing". (14) The king is talking to Macbeth about how he has been impressed with him and has began to form a name/place for Macbeth in the kingdom. (ex. planting) Macbeth says, " Stars, hide your fires; let not light see my black and deep desires". Macbeth is very upset that Banquo is going to be the next king, and he doesn't want anyone to know of his own dark desires that he is succumbing to because he knows he will have to kill Banquo in order to become king. ( ex. darkness) Lady Macbeth says, " Your face, my Thane, is as a book where men may read strange matters". (18) Lady Macbeth is speaking to Macbeth about how he already looks like he's done something guilty, but he needs to act like there is nothing wrong and should act like he's innocent.

Brittney!!
Terrific job with your blog! I really liked the images you pointed out in these scenes. I did the image about Duncan "planting" himself on Macbeth too. We were definitely on the same page there. lol But, i liked the quotes about Macbeth (darkness) and Lady Macbeth (strangeness). Macbeth definitely has a struggle goin on in his mind about whether or not he should go through with their murderous plans or not. And, you're totally right about Lady Macbeth picking up on Macbeth's physical signals of inner turmoil. Nice job!

Good job on your blog. I really liked how you covered a bunch of imagry rather than just one theme. For your first theme though i'm not sure I totally agree. I think that Malcolm isn't saying that Mcdonwall's life was meaningless, i think he's reffering more to the fact that he through away his life and his inheritance. He was a Noble man and he threw it all away to be a traitor, so its like he didn't value his life or his position in life.

Sister, I like the connections you made with the themes and the book. I didn't see it before but I do see that Duncan's giving Macbeth a name/place is along the theme of "planting" And also how Macbeth doesn't want Banquo's decedents to become kings so he then wants him gone, (darkness). I think that Macbeth's new attitude towards his friend also can play on the theme of strangeness too. Originally Macbeth is a nice and respectable guy, who seems like he's never hurt his friend, but do to all this darkness he would be willing to do such a thing, which is strange to me. Lady Macbeth is also a very dark character willing to do so much to become in a place of power, (the queen). Personally I think Lady Macbeth also fits along the theme of illness becuase that women is straight up crazy. But overall you made really good connections, keep it up sister for the Williams family!

Yey brittney doing your blogs! I think you did a really good job of explaining all of the different kinds of imagery and in ways that I don't know I would have thought of. I also used the quote from Macbeth about darkness I thought it was a really good example and a good line.Very nice job!
